On Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at 10:00 am, in the presence of Assistant Professor Dr. Lazgin A. Jameel-President of the University of Zakho, representatives of governmental and private institutes, vices of the president of the university, deans of the faculties and colleges, lecturers, national and international scholars, members of Iraqi and Kurdistan parliament, and students, the Faculty of Humanities, in collaboration with Zakho Center for Kurdish Studies, held its third international conference on " British Policy towards Kurdish Issue" at the hall of conferences-Faculty of Science. In the beginning, the attendees took a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs of the Kurdistan region. Then a speech was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Diyar A. Saed-Director of the Conference. In his speech, he talked about the ancient relationship between Kurds and Britain then he shed light on the importance of organizing such conferences on Kurdish history. Then the speech of the university was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Lazgin A. Jameel- President of the University of Zakho in which he welcomed the national and international guests then congratulated the organizing committee of the conference for their hard work. Then talked about the Kurdish-British historical relationships and other topics of significance. After that, Professor Dr. Hogir T. Tawfiq-President of the Committee of the Conference delivered a speech welcoming the guests and talked about the aims and vision of the conference. Then he talked about the stages of working, implementing of the conference, and accepting researches. He stated that (55) researches were submitted to the committee but only (33) were accepted. It is worth mentioning that (15) research in Arabic, (12) research in the Kurdish language, and (6) research in English will be presented. Furthermore, a documentary film on "British Policy toward Kurdish Issue" was screened. Then a panel discussion was delivered by (Dr.Khalil Ali Murad, Dr.Abdul Basit Sayda, Dr.Mohammed Ihsan, and Dr. Ismail Bishkchi). The panel was about the Kurdish issue and it was lead by Assistant Professor Dr.Sherzad Z. Mohammed-Dean of the Faculty of Education. After the panels and sessions of the conference, a book exhibition was opened in the building of the Faculty of Humanities. In addition, at 4:00 pm, the panels of presenting researches was opened in which researches of the conference were presented. Thus, the first day of the conference was concluded. It is worth noting that the activities of the conference will continue until Thursday, April 18, 2019.
